Who will see my information?
All information you share is 100% confidential. We take your privacy seriously and only correspond with you or individuals you approve. One of the first things we do when we engage in a conversation with a business owner is send them a Non-Disclosure Agreement to acknowledge that we’re talking about weighty decisions and outcomes they’ve spent their lives working on and refining. We never want to even come close to upsetting their apple cart by spilling any beans.
How quickly can I get my estimate?
The form takes about 5 minutes to complete, and your estimate is delivered within minutes — typically under 10 minutes total. But hopefully the speed of getting a number is not your main concern.
We remember our college days of “plug and chug,” stuffing numbers into slots just to check the blocks. I resented just filling in the blanks then — and even more so now.
Our goal is to help you improve the quality of your business, your return on the investment of blood, sweat, and time you’ve poured into it, and the quality of your exit by looking beyond the numbers to spot trends, holes to fill, and opportunities. We want to help you take a deep breath and look objectively at your company — where it really is now and it’s potential, to see if those line up with your vision.

How much does it cost?
Our basic valuation estimate and consultation are completely complimentary, where we tell you what the standard market assessment will say.
But for those who want a deeper, customized, and personalized analysis, we offer a comprehensive valuation report and strategic guidance for $750. This is our “Broker Opinion of Value” — assessing the State of Readiness of both the Business Owner and the Business itself. This is where we assess the preparedness of the business’s financial reporting to help the owner look in the mirror and see what buyers will see — and to identify opportunities to leverage and new directions to push in.
What’s included in a more detailed valuation?
A Basic Valuation is only a basic valuation. Our comprehensive package goes much deeper. It includes a full financial analysis, adjusted earnings (add-backs), industry comparisons, growth potential, and risk factors.
More importantly, it’s a conversation over how we came up with the numbers and why — helping you understand the strengths and weaknesses of what you’ve built, and gauging what you’re willing to do to get where you want to be (or else what you’re willing to settle for).
What if I don’t agree with the estimate?
We hope you don’t agree with what the market says. Valuations are always an interpretation. That’s why we offer personalized consultations — so we can better understand your business and provide a more accurate, holistic view of its value.
Too many people think that “experts” have all the precise answers and are willing to stop there. The value of your business is what you make it to be. After all, it’s your business, and you are the expert of YOUR business.
We follow the principles of the Austrian School of Economics — emphasizing individual decision-making, market freedom, and organic, bottom-up growth rather than top-down control.

What financial data do you need from me?
For a standard valuation, we only need a few basics: Your industry; Last year’s earnings; The owner’s compensation

How do you calculate the value?
Wizardry. Sometimes it seems like it. 🙂
At the basic level, we use the SDE (Seller’s Discretionary Earnings) method, which calculates the total financial benefit to the owner. This includes salary, profit, and add-backs like interest, depreciation, and one-time expenses. We then apply an industry multiple to estimate value — just like buyers do when evaluating a business.
On a deeper level, there’s so much that goes into calculating the value of a business. The value of a business is an ever-changing target — just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s a matter of properly assessing a company, understanding why things are the way they are, looking for diamonds in the rough, and positioning the value in the eyes of the beholder/buyer so that, hopefully, they can’t sleep at night without it.
